Yangshuo Silver Ornaments

Silver was originally used as currency in China. As time went by, silver was used to make many kinds of decorative items, and now many of these designs have became folk arts. Many of the ethnic minority people around Yangshuo (like the Dong and the Miao) make beautiful silver ornaments. Some of these silver products look like the moon, spears and swords, which have special ritual purposes. They are used to chase the devil when the minority people hold the ceremonial sacrifice. Women wear big ornamental head dresses, like impressive crowns, necklaces, bracelets and earrings, all exquisitely detailed. Around West Street you will find some shops specializing in these ethnic minority products.
